Tiger Woods scandal a lesson for us all
Tiger Woods is an example of what happens to many successful athletes. If you live that life it is not easy but you do get away with everything. You get used to it. You are protected. If that happens for a lot of years then soon enough you think you can do anything. There is simply no consequences. What has happened to Tiger has happened to many before and it will continue to happen others. The entourage around him who make lots of money off him will protect him. No one gets away with anything in this life. Eventually he had to face the consequences for his actions. He would have continued to deny everything until he simply had no choice.
Does anyone really care about his personal life other than the media? Probably not. His wife and two young children might have some strong feelings on the situation though. It’s a strange position to be in. You would almost feel invincible. You can do anything, and your bodyguards, your inner circle will cover for you. All because what? You are successful in a sport.
Whenever someone is extremely successful at one thing, it often comes at a cost. A successful young athlete, actor, entertainer often loses their childhood. You always have to question the parents. Also maintaining such strong discipline in one aspect of your life is extremely difficult. You may often lose discipline, or have complete abandon in another aspect. It is simply the balance of life.
I feel no sympathy for Tiger Woods. All those years he believed he could have this personal behaviour and no one would find out. It was never going to happen and at some point he would pay the price. I think if he wasn’t married this story would not have as much legs. Who really care what he does in his private life? It may have even made him slightly more interesting.
The response since the allegations has been nothing short of a disaster. The Tiger Woods team really simped to think that it would just go away. Say nothing, pay off the appropriate people and the media throng and intensity would die down. How wrong they were!
The Tiger Woods story has been simply overplayed. It does teach us a valuable lesson though. Whatever you do, it will eventually catch up with you. It could be now, a month from now, a year or 10. We really only have ourselves to keep us in check.
